Philippe Gandiol, a Northern California painter was born in Paris and moved to California in 1975. After spending many years working for the music industry and he has been painting full time since 2001. He has pursued art early on in his life and has been painting with oils for over 20 years. Gandiol, a self taught artist, took art classes in France, San Francisco and Sacramento. He also studied with renowned West Coast artists. From landscapes and cityscapes painted "en plein air" or still life and figure painted in his studio located in Davis, CA, he works almost exclusively from life and in one session in order to preserve the freshness of the process. He is actively involved with the local artist community, art events and juried art festivals. He also has been teaching privately and at the Davis Art Center for several years.
